Crazy, BUSY Week!

I survived my first week as a student in the Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College!

What I learned:

These next two years are going to be hard.

I had heard that this program was going to be hard but MAN I am nottt used to all of this work... I got very little sleep and basically did HW all day-everyday. My brain is still in summer mode!??

I DID manage to fit 3 workouts in my week so far and I plan on working out tomorrow too!

I've been loving my workouts and really been able to push myself at the parks by my house, and in my neighborhood gym.

I DO miss the competitive atmosphere of the CrossFit gym... Today I was working out in a section of our gym doing the 30-20-10 wod for time, while another woman was in the room doing squats..... I almost BEGGED her mid workout to cheer me on! Definitely missing that CF atmosphere!

I've also grown to be obsessed with packing my lunch.

I'm a huge NERD but I can't help it.

I plan on documenting all my lunches in pictures and eventually blogging some "lunch diaries" or maybe, How to Pack the Perfect Lunch!

I try to keep all my lunches Gluten Free with fruits & veggies and HIGH protein!!!

How was your week? Everyone Excited for the 3 day weekend??

WORKOUT, First day of SCHOOL & Food!

I've been really busy and doing a TERRIBLE job of posting my workouts, BUT here is the workout I did on Friday:

I've been working out an average of 3 times a week and still dedicating all my workouts to my IR4 Buddy!!

I had my first day of school at ASU this last week!

It was so awesome, I love my campus and my new classes.

(I still have a habit of buying very baggy shirts, hoping to get over that this year)

I have also been participating in the:

Here are some pictures of the yummy food I have been eating lately:

Here's to hoping we all have Monday's that don't suck!!!

GOT MATCHED with a BUDDY!

I FINALLY GOT MATCHED WITH MY IR4 BUDDY!

He is a super cute 5 year old and I can't wait to dedicate all my training to him!!!

If you want to be signed up you can visit this website:

Today I ran two miles on the treadmill (because here in AZ it is HOT).

But I hated feeling like a hamster on that machine
(looks like I'll have to start waking up earlier to run)!

So After two miles I stopped and jumped rope for 10 minutes, then went into the basketball court and did this awesome wod - that I made up in my head!

I put repeat 15 times but I'm pretty sure I did my math WRONG! How embarrassing!

I meant repeat it FIVE times!

Wow - anyways

I started my first day of the:

And I feel really good!!

The first day, however is always the easiest! I know tomorrow and Wednesday will be allot more challenging!

I have a BUSY week ahead of me! Tomorrow is weightlifting!

Back to School! 30 Day Challenge

SORRY for my absence!

I have been sick this week and I was not able to continue working out as planned :(

BUT!

I am feeling allot better now after some rest and I have a crazy busy week ahead of me!

I will be starting school on THURSDAY at ASU!!

All this week I will also be cramming in intern hours at an elementary school near my house!

Next week I will be balancing school and TWO different intern positions... YIKES!

In honor of back to school, I decided to spice things up a little....

I decided with school starting and all I would need GREATER incentive to make healthy eating choices!

So starting tomorrow I start another 30 day challenge!

8/20/13 - 9/18/13

During this time I am also going to continue training for the triathlon and see where it gets me!

I am SO excited!

I am also going to give myself several more challenges, like FINALLY shedding those late 10 lbs, working towards a 6 pack and challenging my levels of flexibility!

Weightlifting Workout

Yesterday's Wod was my weightlifting workout at 55 lbs!!

Today was rest day and tomorrow is going to be a cycling day!!!

I've been sick the past couple days - but I haven't let that stop me from training!

Tomorrow I am definitely going to take it slow!

Swimming Workout

Yesterday I did a swimming wod!

I was nervous for this workout, because I have been sick the past couple days but ALSO because I have recognized that swimming is a challenge for me!

I have great skill when it comes to swimming the actual strokes, just not the endurance.

So I thought allot about how when I went to LifeTime and looked at the lap swimmers swimming endless laps - always noticing how slow they were swimming.

So I figured that must be the secret!

I swam for forty-five minute straight at a nice, slow pace! I alternated between backstroke, freestyle and breaststroke!

It felt great and I think I got a good workout in!

This past Saturday was an active rest day for me, so I tried a Power Yoga class at my families gym!

It was AWESOME!

The perfect mixture of challenging, and relaxing.

My favorite part of a yoga class is at the very end when you lay on your mat, close your eyes and relax.

I always feel SO rested but also energized afterwards!

I've been working really hard on eating allot better too!

Since I've been sick I've had a very small appetite...& I've also been craving fruit!

Yesterday I ate no breakfast and was hardly hungry for lunch but I forced myself to eat:

Lunch: Small Italian Salad & fruit Salad

Dinner: 3 Homemade meatballs in "clean eating" homemade sweet and sour sauce w/ brown rice and veggies.
Todays workout for me is going to be weightlifting! YAY...as long as I don't feel too sick (I'm kinda leaning toward just laying in bed all day)

Hope everyone has a great workout!

Weightlifting Day 2, & Couples Yoga!

Boyfriend and I did another Couples Yoga challenge tonight! It's actually really fun to push ourselves outside of our comfort zones to try these poses out!

I never realized how much I actually trusted him until tonight, when I let him hold me up in a handstand!

I was also super surprised I was able to balance so well in that position. I assumed it would be harder to hold and I would topple over!

Lucky for me, all those (long ago) years of gymnastics and tumbling classes paid off and I still posses some of my long lost balance ;)

Today's weightlifting workout is in a similar format, but not the same as the one I did earlier this week.

From now on I will be having 2 weightlifting days a week and 2-3 long runs/bikes/swims!

Yesterday was my rest day but I thought I might swim a few laps in my boyfriends pool just to see where I was fitness wise....

Swimming is HARD!

I'm actually a great swimmer - Besides Gymnastics, I did swim team and took Olympic strokes training classes until I was 15 years old!

But the ENDURANCE it takes to swim long distance... I do NOT have that right now!!

In my memories of being on swim team, the coach would make you swim thousands of meters a practice and you were totally fine!

I CAN'T EVEN SWIM 4OO METERS WITHOUT STOPPING A TON OF TIMES AND DYING...

That being said, previously my main concern about a triathlon was the run - but now I KNOW the hardest part to train for will be the swim!

This will especially be a challenge for me, because the gym my family goes to does not have a lap pool!

I'm still trying to workout the details of how I can get VERY cheap access to a lap pool!

Until then.. I will swim many many laps in my boyfriends family's recreational pool!

Hope everyone had a great day today!

p.s. have you seen these yummies in the grocery store???

They are in the freezer section and are SO good!!!

They are my latest obsession - and totally more convenient than the mess of making them yourself!

Workout & food Log!

Yesterday I started my day with a 30 minute run!!!
I was hoping to get as close to 3 miles as possible and I got EXACTLY 3 Miles!!

My average pace was a 10 minute mile, which I thought was pretty decent since the last time I ran 3 miles straight was the Spartan Race last Feb!

It was a gorgeous rainy day here in Arizona, something very rare!

I'm excited to see as I continue to run for 30-45 minutes, how much more distance I can cover and how much faster my miles will get!!

I ate pretty well for breakfast and lunch but I did end up eating one pork enchilada & a salad for dinner!

Happy Workouts!

Easy Weightlifting Workout

I have been searching for something new to train for.

Last year it was a Spartan Race, and you can read about my experience HERE.

I have been loving CrossFit but I needed a NEW and exciting goal...

I have decided to train for a Sprint Triathlon!

A sprint tri consists of a 400 meter swim, 12 mile bike & 3 mile run!

I have created a training schedule for the month of August to ease me back into doing Cardio for long spurts of time.

I will be weightliting twice a week and doing either a long run, bike or swim twice a week with an active rest day (yoga, walk, play) on Saturdays.

I'm hoping to figure out how to share that schedule with you soon if you are interested in training for Sprint Tri as well!!

I am very excited to take on this new challenge :)
